The towel measures 36" x 30" and is made from thick, organic cotton terry cloth which makes the towel more absorbent and fluffier. This towel was soft at first, then got scratchy after multiple washings. My baby didn't seemed to mind it, but I got a different towel for her. The washcloths stayed soft, though.
